Twice The Fun For Beavers, Cubs and Scouts!

Posted 20:53:47, 26/10/11 by Stephan Nicholls, 0 comments posted Beavers Cubs Scouts

Since the start of this term, evenings have been busier than ever at the hut on Moores Bridge Lane that's shared by Danbury Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. All three successfully opened new sections  in September, meaning that the village can now boast two Beaver colonies fo

Ordering Badges and The District Shop

BADGE SECRETARY - PROCEDURES  FOR ORDERING BADGES

Many of you will be aware that in recent months Emma Hills has been providing a substantial amount of help to me as the temporary Badge Secretary, for which I have been extremely grateful.  I am very pleased to tell you that Robert Pickess has been appointed as Badge Secretary with immediate effect. He will be supported by Sue Raybould who will assist with the administration - including the collection of invoice payments.

In the short term, while the new arrangements settle in we need to amend some of our procedures for ordering Badges. We also wish to encompass the present facilities for our district shop.

DISTRICT SCOUT SHOP  -  SUPPLY OF SECTIONAL SUPPORT ITEMS

These items cover the majority of certificates, publications, woggles and wall charts for all sections from Beaver Scouts up to Scout Network. A list of items is can be found in the documents section.

These should be ordered in the same way as for Badges (see below), but will only be available for collection, when advised, given the difference in size/weight, as it will not be feasible to post or deliver such items.

We plan to hold the more popular items in stock so that orders are satisfied without delay as we wish to support our leaders in the short term. Within the foreseeable future, the District Executive will use its best endeavours to re-establish a fully operational District Scout Shop, with the added benefit of Debit and Credit Card payment facilities from early 2012. In the meantime we are most grateful to James Lincoln, our Scout Shop Manager for agreeing to continue to supervise these arrangements: he will work closely with Robert and Sue.

WAYS TO ORDER

  1. On the web for delivery or collection www.chelmsfordbadges.org.uk
  2. By Email to badges@chelmsfordscouts.org.uk

NOTE

  • Orders placed for collection by Web, or Email can be collected at any time AFTER you receive a confirmation to say the order is ready.
  • Orders placed on the Web for delivery will be sent by return.
  • If you choose to collect your order, for the time being, this will be from One Stop Scouting, Unit 1, Beehive Business Centre, Beehive Lane, Chelmsford. Essex.  CM2 9TE. All orders with items from the District Scout Shop MUST be collected.
  • Payment must be made either with the order or at the time of collection. Unfortunately at present we are unable to accept any type of card in payment, so ideally a cheque  payable to Chelmsford & District Scout Council is preferred.
  • WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT, all payments by cheque should be sent to Chelmsford & District Badge Secretary at  388, Linnet Drive, Chelmsford, Essex.  CM2 8AL.

If you have any queries please give Robert a call on 07789 378244 or email him at rpickess@hotmail.com (Sue Raybould can be contacted on 07706 146590 or email susan.raybould@blueyonder.co.uk).

Please advise your Section Leaders of these revised arrangements where it is appropriate to do so. Many thanks for your support and co-operation.

I would like to take this opportunity, once again, to thank Emma Hills for being our Badges Co-ordinator for the past eighteen months and for her support in the handover to Robert.   Thanks Emma for a job very well done - we wish you success on your course at University.

Richard Oscroft, MBE, District Chairman.

 Riffhams Update

Posted 20:02:47, 01/05/11 by Stephan Nicholls, 0 comments posted Riffhams

Riffhams is coming back to life now, the trees are starting to green up and the bird boxes have some new residents. To be fair, the site never stops and quite a few hardy souls have braved the cold winter nights under canvas.

Last year we introduced a new booking category based on a specific request, on rare occasions I get requests to book the whole site for exclusive use of one grou

Posted 10:14:54, 05/04/11 by Stephan Nicholls, 1 comment posted Explorers
Are you fed up of doing knots on Unit nights for no obvious purpose or have a desire to move onto bigger projects. Well Saturday 14th May is your day, we have organised a day of constructing large scale pioneering projects. You will have the opportunity to build large, fun projects such as a swing boat or a catapult and on a slight smaller scale the chance of testing your knots in water with rafting as well. See the flyer and health form in the documents section for more information.
