Exec Committee Nominations 2019
Posted on 26 April 2019
To: All members of the Chelmsford District Scout Council
As you will be aware the District AGM will shortly be upon us (25th July 2019), so the nominations process for the membership of the District Executive Committee has to be started. As per our Constitution we are able to have up to four people elected by the District Scout Council. The District Commissioner is able to nominate an additional four people and also nominates the District Chairman. As outlined in PO&Rs we also need to have 18 – 25 years olds as a part of the committee. The District Explorer Scout Commissioner is an ex Officio member of the Executive Committee as is the District Commissioner and District Chairman.
The role of the District Executive Committee is outlined in PO&Rs rule 4.25 f. However in summary:
“The Executive Committee exists to support the District Commissioner in meeting the responsibilities of their appointment. The Members of the Executive Committee must act collectively as charity Trustees of the Scout District, and in the best interests of its members…….”
Should we receive more nominations from the District Scout Council than we have places, we will need to undertake a vote. The result of any election will be announced at the AGM.
The vote is open to any member of the District Scout Council over the age of 18 this includes any member of the District who holds an adult appointment whether a leader, administrator or parent of an Explorer Scout. (Explorer Leaders please pass on to the parents of our Explorer Scouts. GSLs please pass on to the parents of the Young Leaders)
If you know of anyone who is not on email please feel free to pass on a paper copy of the Form.Download Nomination Form
