WANTED – Campsite Manager
Posted on 14 August 2019
After 14 years in the role, Nigel Wood, the manager of our Chelmsford District campsite (Riffhams) has announced he will be stepping down at the end of the year. So the search is on to find a replacement for Nigel as Riffhams Campsite Manager.
The Riffhams campsite is an incredibly valuable asset to our District. Local scout groups are able to use the 10 acre woodland site free of charge for day/evening activities, and at very low cost for overnight camping and other events. The site is also used by other youth groups and schools and this helps to generate an income sufficient to cover the day-to-day running costs of the facility.
The new manager (or team) would ideally be able to work alongside Nigel to familiarise themselves with what is involved in running the campsite, and there are other members of the current service team who would be able to offer advice and support. There are various parts to the job which could be delegated to other volunteers in order to share the responsibilities of managing the campsite (e.g. the bookings process; site safety checks; cleaning of buildings).
For further details please contact the District Chairman: Roger Cole
Overview: To manage the Chelmsford District Campsite (Riffhams)
Details: The current campsite manager will be retiring at the end of the year and we are looking for an individual (or group of individuals) to take over the management of the District campsite.
Training: An overlap period with the current manager would give the new incumbent a good idea of what is required on a day-to-day basis. Any specific training such as use of power tools (brushcutter; chainsaw etc) would also be offered.
