 About the American Exchange

Posted 17:06:06, 01/08/08 by Stephan Nicholls, 0 comments posted American Exchange

Chelmsford District have a long association with Scouts in the New Jersey area, which has led us over the last 27 years to carry out exchanges. An exchange lasts 3 weeks with 1 week spent at camp and the other 2 weeks with English or American Hosts.

In 2008 it was the turn of our American friends to receive our hospitality. We shall be visiting America in 2010. Look out for news about the build up to our visit below.

Host families for the 2008 American Exchange got together in May to raise money for trips when the Scouts from New Jersey visit in August 2008. Families and friends bet on the outcome of horse, dog and pig races before they were shown on DVD, they also enjoyed a ploughman's lunch buffet.
