Probably formed in 1910 informally (as was done in those days) then offically registered with HQ on the 11th September 1911 as 4th Chelmsford (Great Waltham), then in 1913 re-registered as 1st Great Waltham. The Troop ran from 1913 to 1922 then ceased for a few years restarting in 1928 to 1932, again a break appearing for one year only in 1938, beginning again during the war in 1943 to 1947, in 1947 renamed 14th Chelmsford (The Walthams) but only had a Cub Pack, no Scouts. In 1950 it joined with Gt. Leighs Scouts as a Group, in 1952 also amalgamated with 22nd Chelmsford (Boreham Airfield), then re-registered in 1959 as 1st Great Walthams changing again in 1970 to The Walthams as it is today.
