Squirrels (ages 4 to 6)

Nationally, Scouting has introduced a new section for four and five year olds to help young people gain skills for a life at a time when it matters most and where it's most needed.

Squirrels – the brand new adventure

Squirrels is a completely new section for four and five year olds, giving our young people the chance to make friends, have fun outdoors, lean new things and earn badges through fun activities.

Activities and what you’ll get up to

You’ll tell stories and play games. Get active and explore the outdoors. Become a brilliant builder and a super chef. There’s something for everyone – and that means that there’s something for you.

Badges and Awards

Become an expert in something you love, or try something shiny and new. There’s badges and awards to suit each and every Squirrel.

Uniform and badge placement

You don’t need a uniform as soon as you join Squirrels – you can get one after a few weeks, once you’ve settled in. You’ll soon start earning badges and you’ll need to know where to put them!

Moving up to Beavers

Eventually, it’ll be time to say farewell to Beavers and embrace your next big adventure.

Squirrel leaders

All of our leaders are trained volunteers, working to make sure Scouting is safe, inclusive and accessible. Some lead the Drey week in and week out. Others visit occasionally to help run a session or drop in to share their skills. No matter how much time you have to spare, find out about volunteering on your own terms.
